Privacy Policy

How Overhyped collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website, free tools, audits, and services.

Effective date: 17 August 2026 · Last updated: 17 August 2026

1. Who this policy is for

This policy applies when you visit getoverhyped.com, use an Overhyped free tool, request a website audit, contact us, or work with us on a paid project.

Overhyped is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to hello@getoverhyped.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only information that you provide, information needed to operate a tool you choose to use, and limited technical information generated when you visit the website.

  • Audit requests: the website URL and work email you submit, plus the submission time, report status, report due date, and a request identifier.
  • Tool inputs: URLs, page metadata, HTML, titles, descriptions, or other text that you choose to enter.
  • Public website evidence: publicly available pages, metadata, headers, links, robots files, sitemaps, and performance results that a requested check needs to inspect.
  • Messages and project information: information you include when you email us or work with us, including documents and access details you deliberately provide for an agreed project.
  • Usage information: page views, approximate location, device and browser information, referring pages, and similar technical events collected through website hosting and analytics services.
  • Security information: limited request and network information used to prevent abuse, apply rate limits, and investigate errors.

Please do not submit passwords, payment-card details, private customer records, health information, government identifiers, or other sensitive information through a free tool or audit form.

3. When we collect information

We collect form details only when you type them into a form and choose to submit it. We inspect a website or process tool input only when you ask the tool to run or authorize us to perform agreed work.

By submitting information, you confirm that you are allowed to provide it and ask us to use it for the purpose shown beside the form. Where consent is the legal basis, you may withdraw it by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

4. How we use information

  • To operate the website and provide the tool, check, audit, report, or service you requested.
  • To contact you about an audit request or an active project.
  • To verify public website evidence and prepare practical findings.
  • To protect the website, prevent spam and misuse, and troubleshoot technical problems.
  • To understand general website usage and improve our pages, tools, and content.
  • To keep business records, enforce our terms, and meet legal obligations.

Depending on the situation and applicable law, we rely on your consent, steps taken at your request, performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, or a legal obligation.

5. How individual tools handle input

Some writing and metadata tools process the text you enter inside your browser. Other tools must send a URL to our server so the public page can be fetched and checked. The tool page explains which approach it uses.

We do not intentionally add ordinary free-tool inputs to a customer or marketing database. Technical service logs may still contain limited request information for security, reliability, and debugging. An audit request is different: its website URL and work email are deliberately saved so we can prepare and deliver the requested report.

6. Service providers

We use service providers to host the website, operate forms, store audit requests, measure website usage, and run selected checks. They process information for us under their own terms and security practices.

  • Vercel: website hosting, server functions, technical logs, and website analytics. See the Vercel Privacy Policy.
  • Google: Google Sheets and Apps Script for private audit-request records, Google Analytics for website measurement, and PageSpeed Insights for selected public-URL performance checks. See the Google Privacy Policy.

We may also disclose information to professional advisers, authorities, or another business when reasonably required by law, to protect legal rights, or as part of a genuine business reorganization. We do not sell audit-request details or use them for cross-context behavioural advertising.

7. Storage and retention

Audit requests are stored in a private Google Sheet available to authorized Overhyped personnel. Project information may be stored in the tools used to deliver the agreed work.

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed to deliver the requested work, follow up on it, maintain necessary business and legal records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations. The exact period depends on the type of information and why it was collected. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymize it, or securely restrict its use.

8. Cookies and analytics choices

We use browser storage to remember whether you allowed optional analytics. Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics load only after you choose “Allow analytics.” If you choose “Only necessary,” those optional analytics services do not load.

You can review the choice from the “Privacy choices” button in the footer. You can also clear stored website data in your browser. Necessary hosting, security, and request logs may still be created when needed to deliver a page, run a tool, prevent abuse, or fix an error.

9. International processing

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable law requires it, we use the provider’s contractual and organizational safeguards for those transfers.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information. These include server-side form delivery, restricted access, validation, rate limiting, and secret-protected connections to the audit-request sheet. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what personal information we hold, request a copy, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy authority. You may also ask us not to contact you about an audit or project.

Send a request to hello@getoverhyped.com. We may ask for enough information to verify that the request relates to you. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

12. Children

Overhyped is intended for businesses and people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us so we can review and remove it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, providers, or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or by email when appropriate.

14. Contact
